$10 Million towards Revitalization.

The Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) is a comprehensive approach to boosting local economies by transforming communities into vibrant neighborhoods where the next generation of New Yorkers will want to live, work, and raise a family. In its eighth year, the program is investing $110 million across the state, or $10 million in each region ($20 million in New York City). The downtown districts that receive the funding are chosen at the recommendation of each of the State's 10 Regional Economic Development Councils (REDCs).
The Village of Cattaraugus is the DRI winner in the Western New York region and has been awarded $10 million towards improvements that will help transform the community. With technical assistance from the State and guidance from a Local Planning Committee and the public, the Village of Cattaraugus will develop a Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) that identifies specific projects that align with a unique vision for the Village’s revitalization. The DRI planning process will run through November 2025, after which the SIP will be sent to New York State which will select the final projects that will receive a share of the available grant funding.

VILLAGE PROJECT CYCLE

Thank​ you to everyone who attended the Complete Streets Event and participated in the survey. The Village is initialing numerous projects this year, and most will have a planning cycle similar to the one in the attached slide show. To apply for most grants, projects must go through this cycle and be shovel-ready before we can apply for funding. Projects we are planning include water source development, water infrastructure upgrades, complete street programs, business district improvements, and more. We encourage community engagement throughout the process. Online suggestions can be submitted directly from the Village website
